Matthew R. Conklin received a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation Science and Administration from Western Michigan University in 2003 and his Juris Doctor from the University of Detroit-Mercy in 2007. Matt became interested in worker’s compensation law while working as a truck driver, warehouseman, and tree cutter during his breaks from school. He joined Smit & Kragt after graduating from law school and worked closely with Timothy Kragt and Len Smit to develop the necessary skills and expertise to handle worker’s compensation and Social Security claims. Conybeare Law Office merged with Smit & Kragt in 2009 to create the largest full-service personal injury law firm in Southwest Michigan. Since the merger, Matt has continued to exclusively practice worker’s compensation and Social Security law. He is a respected litigator and was recently elected by his peers to be a council member of the State Bar of Michigan Workers’ Compensation Section.
Matt enjoys bicycling, golf, and gardening in his free time. He is married with one daughter and resides in St. Joseph.
