- Always have a designated driver when you enjoy adult beverages out of your home. A designated driver pledges to drink only non-alcoholic beverages and provide safe transportation home for other companions.
- If you don’t have a designated driver, call a taxi or a friend after you have been drinking.
- When hosting a gathering where alcohol is being served, ask your guests to designate a driver before the party begins. Offer plenty of non-alcoholic choices and food. Don’t let your guests drive away drunk; have them call a taxi or friend for a ride.
- Remember never to serve anyone under the age of 21, even if there is a designated driver. You can be both criminally and civilly prosecuted for doing so.
- When out and about, if you observe erratic driving that is suspicious for impairment by alcohol or drugs, report your location and a description of the vehicle to 911.
